Laura Shanahan
Managing Director
Laura Shanahan is the Managing Director at Gabriel’s Angels Ireland Limited, Laura is a qualified chartered accountant with over 18 years’ experience working with corporate companies, she qualified with KPMG in Dublin in 2004, following the birth of her 3 children she went back to work for a homeless charity responsible for maintaining the company’s compliance, risk and audit department. Laura worked as a carer in a nursing home in England when she was in her teenage years and felt a calling to return to the care industry, she proceeded to obtain her QQ1 Level 5 in Care of the Older Person and Health and Safety Officer Qualification and founded Gabriel’s Angels Ireland alongside her sister Jacqueline Payne in 2023.
Gabriel’s Angels UK was founded by Jacqueline and Jason Payne and has been operating for since May 2012 in the UK, the knowledge and experiences of the UK sister company were invaluable in guiding the setup of the Irish company.
Laura’s primary focus within the business is to ensure the company is operating to the highest standards with regards to delivering quality, person centred holistic care, in line with HIQA, HSE guidelines and EU legislation, while maintaining the family centred values of the company ethos.
Laura has set the mission statement of delivering high quality, consistent Person-Centred Care to everyone we look after, in the familiarity and comfort of their own homes. Laura endeavours to ensure that continuous improvement is undertaken to meet and exceed the expectations of the people we look after, one of our key differentiators is that we want to offer as much choice as possible to vulnerable people, we know illness takes away so much we want to give back as much choice and independent living as we can.
The Managing Director is accountable for all the company's operations, staff and ventures in order to maintain and grow the company, providing oversight in order to ensure that the company operates to the exacting standards of HIQA, HSE and EU law.
Jacqueline Payne
Co-founder
Jacqueline is co-founder of Gabriel's Angels Ireland with her sister Laura Shanahan. Jacqueline worked as a carer in her school holidays and went on to complete her RGN nurse training at Queen Marys University Hospital in London in 2004, following her Registered General Nurse training, Jacqueline then qualified as a Children’s Nurse from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Years later Jacqueline returned to her passion of caring for the elderly. During this time, she gained years of experience managing a Dementia unit, as the Sister in Charge, while further enhancing her wealth of knowledge completing an ENB nursing course Caring for the Patient with Dementia and an ENB 998 nurse teaching course. Jacqueline has also attained her Train the Trainer course and is qualified to teach Safeguarding, Manual Handling, First Aid and Induction Training to carers at Gabriel’s Angels. Gabriel’s Angels UK is run by Jacqueline and her husband Jason Payne who has over 20 years senior management experience in large corporate companies. Gabriels Angels UK supports both adults and children in need. Jacqueline enjoys new challenges and was very excited when her sister wanted to join forces to create Gabriel’s Angels Ireland. She looks forward to the journey of bringing more choices to the people of her home country Ireland.
Both sisters have a passion for care from observing their Granny Annie volunteer to care for St Vincent De Paul patients in the local mental health hospital St. Loman’s in Mullingar and getting her whole family involved in looking after many of her vulnerable neighbours.

Before we introduce live-in care, we meet every client and their family
for a full live in care consultation as part of our personal one to one
service, and then handpick the dedicated carer who is suitably matched,
qualified and committed to supporting your independence with dignity and
respect.
Care Givers will be Garda-vetted, insured, and trained to HIQA’s high, standards, as required.

Home Visit
Detail is important. We’ll visit you and your loved one, discuss their needs, the support they’re looking for, and explore what type of Caregiver would be best for your loved one. We take great care to find the best match for your family member. We also carry out a thorough assessment of your loved one’s home and recommend ways to make it a safer place to age.
